Four nights on Lake Superior: reserving a Copper Harbor shore motel stay
From, room for two$4804 nights · from $240 per personNot included: taxes, bridge toll and meals.
This Copper Harbor shore motel stay sits at the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula where US 41 runs out. You get four nights in a room for two at a Lake Superior shore motel at the end of the road, with a front desk of its own. It is a long drive north from our office, and the reward is the lake.
Your dates go to the motel first: is a room open, and what is the nightly charge? One quote on paper follows for you to study, and everything waits on your answer. You pay us nothing for this, no planning fee and no booking fee. The motel takes payment at its own desk when you arrive, and it pays our office a commission after you go home.
Ridge drive above the harbor
The picture at the top looks down from a high ridge over forest and the small harbor to open Lake Superior. That ridge is Brockway Mountain Drive, a road along the crest with overlooks of the lake. Down in town, Hunter's Point Park reaches out on a rocky point at the harbor mouth.
Fort Wilkins Historic State Park keeps an 1844 army post beside Lake Fanny Hooe, and Estivant Pines is a stand of old-growth white pine in the woods nearby. Copper Harbor is also where US 41 comes to its northern end.

Shore motel at the Keweenaw tip
The lodging is a Lake Superior shore motel at the end of the road, and the picture beside shows a lodging of this kind. Registration happens at the motel's own front desk, and the motel sets its own terms. Its name stays off this website and appears in the written quote once your nights are settled. The figure covers the room for two for the four nights at the motel's posted starting rate, and nothing more.

Four nights for two, taxes extra
The figure starts from $480 for the room for two for 4 nights, or from $240 per person. Behind it sits a working rate from $119 per night for two people sharing one room, the motel's posted starting rate, taken from the motel's own website. The motel lists no nightly fee charged to every guest, so the sum holds the room alone.
On top of that come taxes: the 6% Michigan use tax, plus whatever county room tax the motel charges. The Mackinac Bridge toll, state park entry at the old fort, fuel and meals also sit outside the figure. Once your nights are fixed, the motel's actual rate takes the place of the working estimate, and it may come in above or below it. Each figure's method is laid out on our pricing page.
Inside this total
- The room for two for 4 nights at the motel's posted starting rate
Left for you to pay on the road
- Michigan's 6% use tax and any county room tax
- The Mackinac Bridge toll, $4.00 per car each way
- State park entry at the old fort
- Fuel and meals
June to early October on the Keweenaw
June to early October is the window this stay is planned for. From mid October through May, snow closes the ridge drive above town and the trip loses the reason most people make it. Demand climbs from late June onward, and those nights can run above the working rate, so send your month early if it falls in that stretch.
Your nights confirmed in writing
Your written quote carries the motel's name, a description of the room, the rate for each of your nights and the total for the room for two. Taxes the motel will add are listed, and its cancellation terms appear word for word as the motel supplies them. A room is held only after your written yes reaches us; at that point we ask the motel to set it aside in your name.
Nearly six hundred miles to the Keweenaw tip
Southfield to Copper Harbor runs 581 road miles, roughly 11 hr 32 min of driving with no stops by a computed route, and the actual trip will run longer. Measured straight north, Copper Harbor sits 343 miles above the office at 47.47 degrees north, past the halfway line of the 45th parallel. On the way north you cross the Mackinac Bridge; its toll of $4 per car each way is collected at the bridge itself and stays outside the figure.
